Pilgrims of Ibillin works with potential volunteers to plan for successful visits. If interested, please contact Joan Deming, Pilgrims’ Executive Director, to discuss options. Note that only one or two volunteers can be accommodated at a time, and that no new individual volunteer applications are being considered until early 2017.
Groups of Volunteers in Mission are welcomed and appreciated at Mar Elias. Usually groups come through an established Volunteer in Mission program like those provided through the Methodist Liaison Office in Jerusalem. Groups stay in the MEEI Guesthouse and work on light maintenance or upkeep of buildings and grounds. Groups can also spend part of a stay at Mar Elias on volunteer work and visits with students, and spend other parts of their stay visiting holy and historical sites throughout the Galilee region. Pilgrims of Ibillin can help with suggestions of Galilee activities, and provide contacts with local resource people.
For up to date information on fees for room and board and to check on specific dates, please contact the office of Archbishop Elias Chacour through his secretary at firstname.lastname@example.org. Questions can also be directed to Joan Deming, Pilgrims’ Executive Director, or Ted and Jane Settle, past MEEI volunteers.
Additional notes: The Mar Elias Campus is built on a steep hill and volunteers do a good bit of walking up and down the hill.
